LIFE Association Scholarship Fund

The LIFE Association Scholarship Fund provides scholarships of up to $5,000 to graduating high school seniors or past graduates with a degree or GED equivalent in the state of Texas who intend to pursue a trade or vocational degree or certification at an accredited community college or nonprofit trade school in the state of Texas.

Applicants are required to complete the FAFSA prior to applying in order to complete the Financial Need Section of the Universal Application, submit a required essay, and provide two letters of recommendation.

Please check with the college that you plan on attending for incoming freshman scholarships. For merit-based scholarships at specific colleges and universities, go to the College or University's website you will be attending and look under Financial Aid.

FAFSA

All students who plan to attend a college, university, or technical/trade school must file for financial aid with a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The FAFSA website opens October 1st of each year. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov to complete an application. You will renew your application for financial aid each year you are enrolled in post-secondary education.

 

A Senior Financial Aid Night will be held at Rains HS during the month of October, date to be determined.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid for students entering college in the fall of 2025 will be available October 1

Filling it out is the first step in accessing the largest source of federal, state and college financial aid. It is important for EVERY senior to fill out a FAFSA in order to take advantage of all need and merit based financial aid available.

In accordance with Texas Education Code (TEC), §28.0256, beginning with students enrolled in 12th grade during the 2022-2023 school year, each student must do one of the following in order to graduate:   - Complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); - Complete and submit a Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA); or - Submit a signed opt-out form. (see counseling center for this form)
